AFA Chapter 256 to meet tonight


The initial 2008 meeting of Llano Estacado Chapter 256 of the Air Force Association will begin at 5:30 p.m. today at The Landing.


Retired Lt. Gen. Don Peterson, former AFA Chapter president and former 27th Fighter Wing commander, will be the guest speaker.


Dinner after the meeting is available.

Volunteers needed for Kite Karnival


The 5th Annual Kite Karnival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Doc Stewart Park.


Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, parking, game monitoring, clean-up and tear-down.


Gloves are recommended for set-up, tear-down and clean-up.

Housing now under 27th SOCES


The 27th Special Operation Civil Engineer Operations Flight now oversees the daily operations of the housing maintenance contract.

Cannon Pet Policy


Upon registering for base housing, pet owners must register their dogs or cats and provide proof of current vaccination for rabies.


Those who obtain a pet after moving into government quarters must register them with the housing office within three days.


Only two dogs or cats, or one of each, are permitted per household.

Change of Command


Maj. Ryan Rowe will relinquish command of the 27th Special Operations Component Maintenance Squadron to Maj. Andrew Young at 9 a.m. May 2 in Hangar 16.


A reception will follow.


The uniform for military is uniform of the day and business casual for civilians.



Relay for Life


Teams are forming for this year’s Relay for Life, which begins at 6 p.m. May 2 at Ned Houk Park in Clovis.


Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, more than 4,800 relays are held nationwide to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and to raise money.


Individuals interested in participating may contact Melissa Crowe at 763-2261 or Rebecca Holt at 762-9492 to sign up.
